WTCC Race of China - 13-15/10/2017

It took 18 months to convert swampland in Shanghai’s Jiading district into an international-standard racetrack ahead of its 2004 opening. Since then it’s been ever-present on the Formula One calendar as well as staging MotoGP and WEC events. And, since 2012, the WTCC has been an annual visitor on a slightly shorter layout. The track is characterised by its long back straight and tight hairpin, which guarantees great WTCC action, as proven by Thed Björk’s final-lap pass for Volvo’s first victory in 2016. Shanghai is also notable for Mehdi Bennani’s win two years earlier, the first by an Arabic driver.
